Vikas Sethi, 48, Dies; Wife Reveals Cause of Actor’s Shocking Death

Vikas Sethi, a famous TV actor, suffered from a cardiac arrest and passed away at age 48. His death utterly stunned the Indian television industry. Vikas is best remembered for his performances in the popular TV dramas Indian Kahiin To Hoga and Kasautii Zindagii Kay. The actor died on September 8, 2024. The actor’s sudden demise has caused damage to his family, fans as well as his colleagues. The wife, Jhanvi Sethi, gave detailed information on how and when he passed on, saying that it has been a great loss to the family.

Vikas Sethi passed away while asleep in Nashik, where he and his family were attending a function. Jhanvi explained that in the hours running to his death, Vikas had been feeling unwell. He had already developed symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea but, despite it, he didn’t feel right about going to the hospital and wanted to be kept in the house. A doctor came to visit him in their house, but sadly, Vikas did not make it out and died during the night. The widow remembered how badly she felt when she found Vikas unresponsive early the next morning.

“At around 6 am on Sunday, I went to wake him up, but he was no more,” Jhanvi said in an interview. The attending doctor said that Vikas had died of cardiac arrest while he was sleeping. His body was sent to Cooper Hospital in Mumbai for further checks and post-mortem procedures after his demise.

Vikas Sethi’s tryst with entertainment started back at the turn of this millennium, where he soon rose to be adored by one and all across Indian Television. After playing the role of Swayam Shergill in the mega hit Kahiin to Hoga, in the early years of this first decade, he soon followed it up with the lead role of Prem Basu in Kasautii Zindagii Kay, another classic hit during this golden era of Indian television.

Besides these, Vikas also did some other major roles in television series, such as Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, which added to his points as a good actor. He won much critical appreciation with his performances and remained a known face on television screens throughout the 2000s era.

Though primarily popular for his TV work, Vikas did make an entry into Bollywood with a small yet effective appearance in the 2001 Box-Office blockbuster movie Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. He played the role of Robbie, a date of Kareena Kapoor’s character Pooja (Poo). Interestingly, it was a role that was first offered to John Abraham but was essayed successfully by Vikas in the Karan Johar-directed loved family drama.

He is survived by his wife Jhanvi and twin sons, born in 2021. Jhanvi, in grief with this tragic loss, shared the last moments of the actor and what void a family has to fill. They had a beautiful life together, and Vikas always showed his love for them through public statements.

The note issued by the family was as follows: “In loving memory of Vikas Sethi, who passed away on the 8th of September 2024. Wishing all of you to shower your prayers and support during the given time.”.

Aamna Sharif, while working with Vikas for Kahiin To Hoga, took to social media and wrote, “Shocked and heartbroken to know about Vikas Sethi. He was such a great co-actor and friend. May his soul rest in peace, and my prayers are with his family at this hopeless time.”

Other actors of the industry like Hiten Tejwani and Shweta Tiwari too shared similar feelings of grief and sent condolences to the Sethi family.
