According to sources, Tollywood actor Samrat Mukherjee has reportedly met with a traffic accident in Kolkata in the wee hours of Tuesday. According to reports, his car ran into a motorbike in Behala.

Further to clear the confusion, a statement has been issued by Mumbai-based filmmaker and owner of Filmalaya Studios, Samrat Mukherjee. In an exclusive interview with ETimes, he said, “I would like to make it clear that I am not the Samrat Mukherjee involved in the accident. The actor Samrat Mukherjee who was arrested is based in Kolkata. While I am also a filmmaker, I reside in Mumbai.”. Since morning, I have been getting endless calls from people who think that I am the person involved in this case. I want to clarify to everybody that I am safe, and I have nothing to do with this case.”
Kolkata Incident
The Bengali actor, who shares the same name as the Mumbai-based filmmaker, was arrested following the accident. Reports suggest that the actor was running his car and collided with a motorcycle in Behala. The motorcyclist was first admitted to the M R Bangur Hospital and later shifted to the SSKM Hospital for treatment. The police have reportedly confirmed the arrest of the actor, and he is undergoing a medical test as part of the ongoing investigation.
The actor involved in the accident has been taken into custody and is currently under a medical examination. We are investigating the matter thoroughly to determine the exact circumstances of the incident,” the police statement said.
No Connection to the Mukerji Family
Actually, notwithstanding the confusion of the identity of the actor in question, Kajol’s cousin Samrat Mukherjee—who, by the way, regularly accompanies her to annual Durga Puja festivities in Mumbai—has nothing to do with the case. The filmmaker had also earlier made it known that the actor who met with the accident is no relative of either Kajol or Rani Mukerji.
