New FASTag Regulations in India Starting August: Update KYC and Vehicle Information

A new set of rules is to come into effect under the regime of FASTag from 1 August 2024 all across India, which would ensure smooth payments of tolls at toll plazas and turn down queues. FASTag is an electronic toll collection system put in place by NHAI to help the easy and cashless paying of tolls while any vehicle is in motion. 1. Replacement of Old FASTags
This might be one of the biggest changes that will compel users to replace FASTags that are older than five years.

Compulsory Replacement Date: There will be a compulsory update; all old FASTags have to be replaced by October 31st, 2024. This compulsory update has been provided so that the system of the FASTag runs smoothly and no hassles are faced by the users during toll services.

KYC Data Update Requirement: Service providers would also be allowed updating of the KYC process for all the earlier days of issue, probably between three and five years, besides replacing the FASTags. Photo Upload of Vehicle: The user shall also upload the clear photo of the vehicle in front and side views on the FASTag Account. This is for verification of the Vehicle so that proper utilization of the FASTag is made. It is through this visual verification that Toll Operators with the FASTag pasted on the front side of a vehicle can avoid misutilization and fraud.
