Maulana Mahmood Madani Praises Mukhtar Ansari as ‘Garibon Ka Masihaa’ in Aap Ki Adalat
Maulana Mahmood Madani, one of the most respected religious leaders, set tongues wagging in the recent Aap Ki Adalat with his views hailing the controversial figure Mukhtar Ansari, who had changed from a gangster to politician. “I did say he was ‘garibon ka masihaa’ (prophet of the poor). Please go and ask people in his area. They consider him as a man who helped the poor. It is not because he was a Muslim. Even 80 per cent non-Muslims in his area consider him so,” Madani stated.
Madani further added that though the name Ansari is quite frequently connected with hooch and other crimes, he never recalled that any case has ever been reported where Ansari had forcibly snatched someone else’s property. He conceded the legacy of Ansari but claimed that people talk good about the dead and again added that he never said those things to his face when he was alive.
