Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu on a bilateral four-day visit to India that included a visit to one of the world’s most famous monuments, the Taj Mahal, said the architectural wonder of the 17th century was breathtakingly beautiful and historically significant as the visiting president was seen visibly shaken by it. The Taj Mahal visit in fact transpired to be the high point of his tour as he says that, for him, he savours architectural brilliance in a way that no other monument can be better.

A Grand Welcome to the Taj Mahal
President Muizzu and First Lady were welcomed at the airport by Uttar Pradesh Minister Yogendra Upadhyay who represented Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath upon arrival in Agra. On their way to one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Taj Mahal, the Maldives First Couple received a memorable welcome. Because of his remarkable beauty, the site was closed from 8 in the morning till 10 AM so that he and his retinue could visit the site without disturbance.

Minister Upadhyay commemorated the visit of the president and the first lady with an engraving of the Taj Mahal, as a memento of the historic visit. They clicked photographs in front of the grand standalone monument made of white marble while taking memories of their visit to the place along.

He inscribed words in the visitors’ book: ‘words can hardly represent the beauty of this monument’. President Muizzu said that the intricate and crafted beauty of the Taj Mahal was a monument to love as well as architectural genius.

This bewitching intricacy and attention to detail are a testament to love and architectural excellence,” Muizzu wrote, clearly touched by the experience. It reflects the sentiments of millions of visitors who were captivated by the beauty of the Taj Mahal over centuries.

Still erect, this monument still stands testament to eternal love and artistry by the hands of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, in the memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal.
