MS Dhoni Casts His Vote in Ranchi During 2024 Lok Sabha Elections
Indian cricket legend MS Dhoni was spotted at a polling station in Ranchi, Jharkhand on Saturday, where he cast his vote during the sixth phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. This phase saw voting begin for 58 seats across Delhi, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Odisha, West Bengal, and Jharkhand.
Dhoni had recently participated in Chennai Super Kings’ IPL 2024 campaign, where the team failed to make it to the playoffs and was eliminated in the group stage. After the IPL, Dhoni fulfilled his civic duty by arriving at the polling station to vote.
Despite battling a persistent leg injury, Dhoni displayed remarkable resilience, playing in all 14 matches. However, the team failed to defend their title after losing a crucial match to Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Rumors about Dhoni’s future in cricket had been circulating, but CSK quickly dismissed these speculations, stating that their former captain would announce his decision in due time and that they would not interfere with his decision.
CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan commented on the matter in a video shared by the team, saying, “Only MS can answer that question.” He emphasized the team’s respect for Dhoni’s autonomy in decision-making, adding, “We have always respected MS’s decisions. We have left it to him, and as you all know, he has always made his decisions and announced them at the right time.”
Before IPL 2024, Dhoni had stepped down from CSK’s captaincy and adjusted to a lower batting position. However, his batting prowess remained undiminished as he consistently performed throughout the tournament. Dhoni amassed a total of 161 runs at an average of 53.66 and an impressive strike rate of 220.54, showcasing his characteristic power-hitting ability with 14 fours and 13 towering sixes.
