JMM-led alliance prepares for Jharkhand assembly polls

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren made a significant announcement today; the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and its allies, will contest all 81 assembly seats in elections. This was stated during a central committee meeting of the JMM, wherein Soren said that the party never lacked confidence related to its preparation toward elections and the ability to return to power in the state. With the tenure of the present Vidhan Sabha bound to finish on January 5, 2025, the political scenario in Jharkhand is shifting to a tough battle.

Election Strategy Analysis
The JMM leadership, while also meeting party workers and executive committee members, reviewed its poll strategies, and the party enumerated future campaign plans. Soren further stated that the party is dedicated to governance and to welfare and that the alliance under the leadership of JMM is not doing announcements but is implementing various welfare schemes for the benefit of the people of Jharkhand. He said, “We have prepared very well and have the confidence that people of Jharkhand will again elect us. ”

Soren also launched a few sharp attacks at the BJP. He said that while the JMM maintained a spotless record of positive work being carried out by it, compared to the BJP whose performance has been under scanner. His wife Kalpana Soren who is an MLA from the party reminded further that this alliance won the 2019 assembly elections even when there was a formidable BJP government at the center.

Women Empowerment
It has been focusing on women empowerment, one of the essence elements of its governance model, JMM. “JMM has initiated a lot of programs for women empowerment in the state. On the other hand, allegations like the incidents of sexual harassment and trafficking during BJP government at the Centre are some serious ones,” said Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Majhi. Majhi said, “The JMM believes in giving women more voice and empowerment to take charge of their lives.”

Alliance Dynamics and Candidate Selection
It has also decided the formation of alliances and the division of assembly constituencies between the coalition partners. The central president of JMM, Shibu Soren, along with Hemant Soren, has been authorized to finalize seat-sharing and candidates.
This decision, in fact, reflects the intention of the JMM to project a cohesive platform during the polls and win to the fullest extent possible.

Development and welfare have always been the motto of JMM. Many schemes have been undertaken to ensure development in the sectors of healthcare, education, and infrastructure of the state.
