Army says two terrorists killed in Kupwara as security forces foil the infiltration bid; Army recovers ‘war-like’ store
In anti-terror operation which went major in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir, security forces neutralized two terrorists while successfully thwarting the attempted infiltration along LOC. Indian Army said that with the help of J&K Police, it recovered “war like stores” from the encounter zone. Forces are still carrying the operation on as they continue to search the area.
Intelligence leads to joint operation
October 2024 when the Indian Army, based on some inputs from intelligence that an infiltration was taking place by hostile forces across, initiated a joint operation with the Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Gugaldhar area of the Kupwara district, one of the sensitive districts bordering volatile India-Pakistan. That particular region has been a hotbed for attempts by militants crossing over from Pakistan in order to infiltrate into Indian soil for quite some time.
“Based on intelligence about an infiltration attempt, a joint operation by the Indian Army and J&K Police was launched at Gugaldhar, Kupwara,” said an official statement by the Chinar Corps. “Alert troops spotted suspicious activity and challenged, leading to an exchange of fire with the terrorists,” the statement added.
The Encounter: Gunfight Erupts

Terrorists opened fire on the security forces, and a heavy gun battle went on in the dense forested terrain of Gugaldhar.
