Bayern Munich Smash Dinamo Zagreb 9-2 in Champions League Goal Feast

Bayern Munich put on a spectacular show against Dinamo Zagreb in the recently played match of the UEFA Champions League. They defeated the Croatian side by 9-2. The scoreline of the match was extremely overwrought in favor of Bayern on the European front, especially as they strolled to victory led by prolific scorer Harry Kane with four strikes, including two penalties. This was to be one of the victories that put Bayern firmly within the great range of teams this year, while Dinamo Zagreb could not keep with the pace set forward by the powerful Bavarians.

First Half: Bayern’s Attacking Power Unleashed
Bayern Munich was pretty adventurous with the whistles; they earned more possession and constantly hounded Dinamo Zagreb to their half. Bayern’s pressure would eventually pay off when, in the 19th minute, a handball in the box gave them a penalty. Harry Kane scored the penalty surely and the Bayern took a lead 1-0.

Just a few minutes more than 10 later, Bayern scored again. Raphael Guerreiro, who had been unnerving on the left side, timed a run into the box and slotted home a perfectly placed pass from Jamal Musiala for a 2-0 lead in the 33rd minute. Bayern’s attack was overwhelming of Zagreb and didn’t take long to find the back of the net again.

And before the start of halftime, Bayern had gone three up from the 38th minute when Kimmich found Musiala, and the latter proceeded to react and calm down after receiving this lovely Kimmich cross for an easy finish from close range to put the scoreline at 3-0. On the other side, there was no answer to Bayern’s pace or precision from Dinamo Zagreb.

Dinamo Zagreb Fights Back but Bayern Dominates
Still, despite the heavy deficit, Dinamo Zagreb came out with renewed energy in the second half. They were able to claw back a goal when Bruno Petkovic scored from an assist by Marc Pjaca. This came in the 49th minute and gave Zagreb some momentum and they were able to score again one minute after to cut Bayern’s lead down to 3-2 in the 50th minute, scored by Takuma Ogiwara after an excellent cross from Josip Misic.

However, every hope for a comeback came to an end pretty and drastically soon. Bayern responded quickly, bringing the game back level to two, courtesy of Harry Kane’s goal in the 57th minute to once again create another two-goal gap. Harry Kane received Olise’s perfect pass and did not miss hitting in a powerful shot past Zagreb’s goalkeeper when the score was at 4-2.

He could hardly leave marks for four minutes, when Olise completed his brace of the game. In the 61st minute, he finished a precise through ball from Musiala to make it 5-2 to the lead for Bayern. The defense of Dinamo Zagreb looked as if they wanted to be killed by the non-stop attacks that Bayern had been throwing in along the pitch. They could not muster another challenge.

Kane’s Hat-Trick and More: Bayern’s Ruthless Finish
The game was now 6-2. With a group of excellent players, Bayern’s superiority in the match was increasing with every passing minute. Bayern was given yet another penalty when a foul was committed inside the box in the 73rd minute. Harry Kane stepped up to shoot the ball past into the net, completing his hat-trick and making it 6-2.

Kane wasn’t done yet, though. Five minutes later Bayern were awarded a second penalty and this time the Englishman scored his fourth goal of the game in the 78th minute to make it 7-2. The Zagreb defense had been now in tatters, but Bayern were hardly done.

Substituted himself late, Leroy Sane scored in the 85th minute as Bayern sealed the win. A sublime pass from Thomas Muller into the box found Sane. The winger had no other option but to comfortably slot the ball home, putting the score at 8-2.

It was icing on the cake when, in stoppage time, Leon Goretzka sealed off the win for Bayern. In yet another assist from Kimmich, Goretzka ended in 90+2 minute wrap for Bayern’s 9-2 demolition of Dinamo Zagreb.

Key Performances and Statistics
Bayern Munich score their victory with some outstanding performance by many players, among them is Harry Kane who had a night on the ground and had an excellent display of scoring four of them, two of which from the spot. The other man of the game was Michael Olise who scored and assisted one to Kane while Joshua Kimmich dominated the midfield with his key passes and had most of the play.

Bayern dominated every statistic when the statistics of the match were concerned. They won possession in 70 percent of the match; they completed 762 passes to Dinamo’s 335 and registered an impressive 30 shots on target against just four by Dinamo Zagreb, three of which were on target.

Except for that, Bayern were the most superior at corners as they won 12 and Dinamo managed none. Defensively, Bayern was very solid, and with Eric Dier and Matthijs de Ligt, Bayern assured that Dinamo got little or no attacking chances.

Hopes for Bayern to Win Champions League
This obviously dominant 9-2 victory over Barcelona sends a big message to Bayern Munich’s Champions League rivals that the German champions are really ready for title contention. Bayern Munich, with Kane, Sane, Kimmich, and Musiala, in their rank of roles is well bestowed both in firepower and strategy to make a match out of taking on the best teams in Europe.

Whatever the case may be, Thomas Tuchel’s team would feel comfortable, especially on how they responded to a short stint that marked Dinamo Zagreb’s resurgence in the second half. Bayern have surely had an ability to find a goal from anywhere. With players like Goretzka and Sane in the squad, who are among the bench players scoring, this has made one of the best-balanced teams yet in the competition.

Conclusion
Bayern Munich’s tie against Dinamo Zagreb-one, incidentally that they won 9-2-is one no one will ever forget for sheer dominance and clinical finishing. Bayern seems all set for some very interesting deep runs in this season’s Champions League with Harry Kane leading the charge and well-coordinated teams behind him. Dinamo Zagreb, who were early with their second-half charge, were simply outgunned and will have to regroup before their next encounter. Bayern have now confirmed the reputation of one of Europe’s elite teams which is ready and apt for challenging the ultimate prize.
