14-Year-Old Arisa Trew Claims Gold in Women’s Park Skateboarding at the Paris Olympics
Teenager Arisa Trew sealed the women’s park title at the Paris 2024 Olympics in jaw-dropping fashion as the Australian 14-year-old skateboarder took the top podium place. Wearing her trademark pink helmet, Trew struck fans with high-risk moves while being strong-skilled enough to turn back Japan’s Cocona Hiraki into silver and Britain’s Sky Brown into bronze, the latter of whom was injured.
A Blazing Performance
That last round was electric what shot Trew to the top podium from just being a strong contender at the event held at the scorching Place de la Concorde stadium. With a full load of difficult runs, she took on the crowd, truly proving that she could push the boundaries of women’s skateboarding. She performed very confidently, full of style, and finished off the event with a score that had left the crowd in chirps for more.
The Rise of Arisa Trew
Since entering the scene, Trew has turned a lot of heads in the skateboarding community. She represents one of the most progressive ladies in skating and the first female skateboarder ever to land a 720 in competition, having recently pulled off a 900 including two and a half rotations. She is not scared of anything, and skillfulness in this discipline nails her in this greatly developing sport.
Hiraki and Brown Bounce Back
Though Trew stole the show in the final, her rivals did give some great performances. Cocona Hiraki of Japan won a silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics when the event was included for the very first time. She more than lived up to her reputation here, turning in two smooth and high-scoring runs. But the best was left for last by Trew.
The bronze medallist from the last Olympics, Sky Brown, showed great strength as the skateboarding star competed despite a dislocated shoulder sustained a few weeks prior to the beginning of the Games. She was, however, able to recover and finish on the podium. It must have taken a great deal of guts to do so.
